Searching University Directories
Do you need an email address for someone who teaches, works, or goes to school at a college or university? If the answer is yes, the solution may be very easy. Why not try searching on the university or college's website? While this may not be their primary email account, they will more than likely have a secondary email account through the school. The best thing about this type of a search is that it's free and relatively simple to do.
Most universities and colleges provide the ability to search in their directory for a student or employee. If you happen to know the specific college, you can probably simply key in the college's name with the extension of .edu and navigate straight to their website. If not, googling it will probably lead you right to it, as well. If you don't know the name, try keying this in the search: "university or colleges in Missouri" or whatever the state might be to pull up a list.
When you find the school's website, look for the location, probably on the home page, where you can search for the student or employee. Sometimes, there maybe two separate places for each of these searches. By keying in the whole name or even part of it, anyone in their database matching this will be displayed, as well as their email address. If there is more than one person under that name, this could pose a dilemma. Of course, you always have the option of sending a message to all of them and explain what you want. Make sure to clearly state in the subject line why you are trying to contact them, so they won't ignore your message. With email as the primary source at colleges for communicating, especially for students, their inboxes are usually very full, and you don't want yours to get lost in the shuffle. With any luck, one of them will probably respond. If it isn't the person you want, maybe they can lead you to the correct one.
Just as any search, you may have to try a variety of methods to find the right person. There are certainly many other sites on the internet that offer searches, even free ones, that allow you to key in several different options to find what you need. Keep this in mind, where there's a will there's a way; especially with the incredible amount of information available on the worldwide web.
