People Search Resources

Email is a great way to keep in touch with friends, family, or communicate with business associates. However, there are times when you may not be sure if the email you have is a current one because it has been quite awhile since the last contact. Say for instance an old schoolmate that gave you their email at the last high school reunion, and you both promised to keep in touch, but you haven't. Another situation may be that you have received an email from somebody you do not recognize, but they seem to know you. In order to keep from embarrassing yourself by sending an email to the wrong person or by replying to an email you are not sure about, one option is to conduct an email people search through the internet.

There are many reliable sites that provide an email people search, such as Yahoo. These sites have compiled large amounts of information by cross checking a multitude of resources available on the internet, including email directories, company directories, or public records. With their extensive databases of people's names, addresses, and email addresses, the chances are very good that you can find out whether you have a correct email, or whether you want to reply to an unidentified email.

Most of these sites allow you to search with just an email address or with the person's name and/or address. Some of these services are offered for free and some charge a fee. The ones that charge a fee normally allow you to enter your search criteria to first see if they have any matches based on this criterion. However, in order to see the information, you will have to pay a fee. In some cases, they may allow you to do one search for free. If you choose the free services, just keep in mind that their databases may not be as extensive or as accurate as the paid sites. The amount of information you receive back when you use these services varies. Most of these services report the person's name, home address, city and state, and email address.

Through these email people searches, we can reconnect with old friends and schoolmates and keep our promises. Even more important, we can protect ourselves from replying to unidentified emails by first checking to see who is sending it. Maybe it is someone we actually know, or it may be someone we don't care to know. Unfortunately, emails are often the breeding ground for spammers, scammers, or cyberstalkers. One of our best defenses against this is to always check them out first.
